What a Section 42 report looks like
Below is an abridged report for "Meridian Health Group" — a fictional telehealth clinic we invented to demonstrate the format. Every finding in a real report carries the same structure: severity stamp, what we found, why it's a risk, the rule reference, and the fix.
Homepage lists treatable conditions
Found: "Our practitioners support patients managing chronic pain, anxiety and insomnia." Why it's a risk: naming serious conditions in connection with a service known for medicinal cannabis prescribing is likely a restricted representation and an unlawful advertisement for a prescription medicine. This exact pattern appears in the majority of published infringement notices. Fix: replace with pathway-neutral language describing consultation services without naming conditions or treatments; approved replacement copy provided in Appendix B.
ss 42DL(10), 42DLB(7) TG Act; Advertising Code Part 4; TGA guidance examplesInstagram bio contains "plant medicine" and a leaf emoji
Found: bio reads "Natural plant medicine, delivered." Why it's a risk: the TGA's updated guidance states the prohibition extends to synonyms for medicinal cannabis, including "plant medicine", and to pictures. Fix: reword bio to describe the clinic model only; remove botanical imagery across all profiles.
TGA medicinal cannabis advertising guidance (2025 update)Google reviews embedded on booking page include patient testimonials about outcomes
Found: an embedded review widget surfaces reviews referencing symptom relief. Why it's a risk: using testimonials about therapeutic goods in advertising is restricted; embedding them on your page makes them part of your advertisement. Fix: remove or filter the widget; do not curate or repost outcome-focused reviews.
Advertising Code s 24; TGA social media guidance (Nov 2025)Blog links out to an overseas article promoting cannabis for osteoarthritis pain
Found: "further reading" link in a 2024 blog post. Why it's a risk: the TGA's own guidance uses this exact scenario as an example of a link that turns an otherwise compliant page into an advertisement. Fix: remove the outbound link; audit all historical posts (list in Appendix C).

Consultation fees are presented without reference to products, conditions or outcomes. No change required.
The full report for this fictional clinic runs 14 pages: nine findings, a prioritised remediation sequence, rewritten copy for the two critical items, and a re-check protocol. Real reports follow this format exactly.
